In 2024, Donald Trump was facing a blizzard of partisan lawfare, in a blatant attempt at denying voters the right to vote for a candidate they nominated for President. Policy Issues Institute has also stood for the conservative principles that undergird our Constitutional order, and joined the fight against this attack to circumvent our electoral system. PII filed an amicus brief in Trump v. United States, arguing that Donald Trump had immunity from acts he carried out with his presidential authority.
The Supreme Court agreed with PII, finding that presidents have absolute immunity for acts committed as president within their core constitutional purview, and at least presumptive immunity for official acts within the outer perimeter of their official responsibility.
PII was proud to prevail in the highest court in the land, and plans to continue to advance conservative principles in courts across the country and in the public arena.
